Paying homage. First to the start of baseball games and the other. secondly to the fallible nature of humans. Or Maybe it's just superstition, we've done it this way for a few years now, tradition?
A few tables at each of the bars can handle larger teams (8+). But for the most part it's easier with 6 or less team members. If you have a large team send someone early, before 6:15pm, to claim a table for the team. The short answer is there is no limit on team size.
To get the best table to fit everyone on the team comfortably arrive by 6:15pm. At Montana and sometimes Sam's by 6:45pm all the tables are likely to be claimed.
Both bars have full service bars. Sam's Tavern has great burgers and traditional pub food. Montana doesn't have a kitchen so outside food (not drinks) are allowed. See above for a few great suggestions.
Yes. Sam's Tavern and Montana have always been dog friendly.

Heat Wave = Ice Cold Beer
Hot weather in the Pacific Northwest, where the sun decides to make a guest appearance and the entire region collectively loses its cool—literally. It's like witnessing the rare sighting of a unicorn, except instead of rainbows and magic, you get sunburns and complaints about the lack of air conditioning.
In a place known for its perpetually gray skies and coffee shop culture, hot weather is the ultimate plot twist that leaves everyone scrambling for sunscreen and wondering if they still remember how to wear shorts. It's the time of year when the term "heatwave" is tossed around like a hot potato, and the only thing more shocking than the temperature is the sight of someone actually using their backyard grill.
Hot weather in the Pacific Northwest turns everyone into amateur sun worshippers, seeking out any patch of grass or sliver of shade like it's a precious commodity. It's a time when outdoor activities suddenly become a necessity, and the phrase "it's too hot to hike" is met with both disbelief and relief.
So, here's to hot weather in the Pacific Northwest: a reminder that even in the land of perpetual drizzle, the sun can still make a grand entrance and leave us all wondering if we should invest in a portable air conditioner.
