          Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@seattlebartrivia.com if you cannot find an answer to your question here. As questions come up we will add the them here along with answers.

Paying homage. First to the start of baseball games and the other. secondly to the fallible nature of humans.  Or Maybe it's just superstition, we've done it this way for a few years now, tradition?

A few tables at each of the bars can handle larger teams (8+). But for the most part it's easier with 6 or less team members. If you have a large team send someone early, before 6:15pm, to claim a table for the team. The short answer is there is no limit on team size.

To get the best table to fit everyone on the team comfortably arrive by 6:15pm. At Montana and sometimes Sam's by 6:45pm all the tables are likely to be claimed.

Both bars have full service bars. Sam's Tavern has great burgers and traditional pub food. Montana doesn't have a kitchen so outside food (not drinks) are allowed. See above for a few great suggestions.

Yes. Sam's Tavern and Montana have always been dog friendly.

Just send us an email info@seattlebartrivia.com or show up at one of the trivia nights and talk to the host.  We're always happy to talk about what we do.

          WEEKLY QUESTION

          National Donut Day 6/6

Donut vs Doughnut, Which is Right? Does It Matter?

The Official Dictionary Spelling of the word in question—if you’re into that sort of thing—is “doughnut.” The expedited, simplified, Americanized spelling of “donut,” as Grammarist tells us, has been around since at least the late 19th century. It didn’t catch on, though, until late in the 20th century. Why? That’s when Massachusetts-based chain Dunkin’ Donuts first started taking off — so thank (or blame) Dunkin’ for the popularity of the “Donut” spelling.

National Donut Day, (6/6) that glorious occasion when we celebrate the holey grail of breakfast pastries. It’s the one day a year when it’s socially acceptable to replace your five-a-day fruit and veg with five glazed rings of joy. Forget about the apple a day; on this day, a donut an hour keeps the reality of adulting at bay.

Originating from the sweet, sweet kitchens of the Salvation Army during WWI, National Donut Day honors those who served these sugary disks of happiness to soldiers. Fast forward to today, and it’s less about history and more about which shop is giving away freebies and how early you need to queue to avoid the dreaded "sold out" sign.

It’s a day when diets are paused, gym memberships are questioned, and the sugar rush is real. Social media becomes a parade of pastry perfection, as everyone from your neighbor to your dentist shares their tribute to the deep-fried deity.

So, here’s to National Donut Day: a reminder that happiness can indeed be circular, sprinkled, and dipped in chocolate. May your coffee be strong, your willpower weak, and your choice of filling be ever in your favor.

Whether you’re on #TeamDonut or #TeamDoughnut, make sure you get your hands on a free delicious pastry snack this Friday National Do(ugh)nut Day.

Based on a Google trends search what is the most popular donut in the US?
