Paying homage. First to the start of baseball games and the other. secondly to the fallible nature of humans. Or Maybe it's just superstition, we've done it this way for a few years now, tradition?
A few tables at each of the bars can handle larger teams (8+). But for the most part it's easier with 6 or less team members. If you have a large team send someone early, before 6:15pm, to claim a table for the team. The short answer is there is no limit on team size.
To get the best table to fit everyone on the team comfortably arrive by 6:15pm. At Montana and sometimes Sam's by 6:45pm all the tables are likely to be claimed.
Both bars have full service bars. Sam's Tavern has great burgers and traditional pub food. Montana doesn't have a kitchen so outside food (not drinks) are allowed. See above for a few great suggestions.
Yes. Sam's Tavern and Montana have always been dog friendly.

Is BBQ It’s Own Food Group?
The culinary equivalent of a beach vacation for your taste buds, summer foods where calories magically don't count if eaten outdoors. This is the season when the grill becomes the center of the universe, and "charred" suddenly becomes an acceptable flavor profile. The time of year when salads attempt to make a comeback, only to be overshadowed by their cooler cousin, the ice cream sundae.
Let's talk about the holy trinity of summer cuisine: barbecue, ice cream, and anything on a stick. Barbecue ribs become the ultimate test of etiquette—do you dive in hands-first, or attempt the impossible feat of eating them with a knife and fork? Spoiler: There's only one right answer, and it's not the one that leaves you with sauce on your cheek.
Ice cream, in its infinite forms, becomes a legitimate meal replacement, especially when temperatures soar into the "cook an egg on the sidewalk" range. And then there's the world of food on sticks—corn dogs, popsicles, kebabs—proving that portability is king and anything can be improved by impaling it on a skewer.
Summer food is a celebration of simplicity and flavor, a reminder that the best meals aren't just eaten; they're experienced. So, embrace the mess, the sticky fingers, and the inevitable barbecue sauce stain on your shirt. After all, it's not summer without a little bit of indulgence.
Online Question:
Which popular French summer dish is also the title of a Disney movie?
