Paying homage. First to the start of baseball games and the other. secondly to the fallible nature of humans. Or Maybe it's just superstition, we've done it this way for a few years now, tradition?
A few tables at each of the bars can handle larger teams (8+). But for the most part it's easier with 6 or less team members. If you have a large team send someone early, before 6:15pm, to claim a table for the team. The short answer is there is no limit on team size.
To get the best table to fit everyone on the team comfortably arrive by 6:15pm. At Montana and sometimes Sam's by 6:45pm all the tables are likely to be claimed.
Both bars have full service bars. Sam's Tavern has great burgers and traditional pub food. Montana doesn't have a kitchen so outside food (not drinks) are allowed. See above for a few great suggestions.

Football season, the time of year when grown men in tight pants run around chasing a ball while millions of fans scream at their TVs like they're the ones on the field. It's a time when tailgating becomes a competitive sport and fantasy football leagues take over office conversations faster than a bad case of the flu.
From the pre-game rituals to the post-game analysis, football season is a rollercoaster of emotions where one minute you're riding high on a touchdown and the next you're questioning why you ever invested so much emotional energy into a bunch of strangers throwing around a pigskin.
But let's not forget the real heroes, the commercials. Because nothing says "America" quite like watching multimillion-dollar ads during breaks in the action, all while stuffing your face with nachos and debating whether or not to refill your drink for the third time.
So here's to football season: a time of camaraderie, competition, and questionable referee calls that will have you yelling at the TV like you're auditioning for a role in a sports drama. Because when it comes to football, the only thing that's certain is that you'll never look at a pair of shoulder pads the same way again.
